Frequently Asked Questions 2024
1. When will compost be delivered this season and is it safe for use in our plots?
As always, we will be working closely with the trustees and city officials to get our compost as soon as possible. The expected delivery date is after May 15 (set by the City of Boston). For now, there is some compost in a pile to the right of the shed (from last year) that anyone can use in their plots if they wish.
The Trustees have the compost tested before accepting it for delivery to the community gardens. This is one reason why it is not delivered to us a early as we might like.
2. Are plants available from The Trustees?
Yes! Check The Trustees City Natives website thetrustees.org/place/city-natives/ for more information on available plants, location of the nursery, pick up times, etc.
3. Are seeds available for gardeners?
Yes! The Trustees provide tried and true varieties of vegetable and flower seeds free of charge for their community gardens in Boston. Each year we order seeds from The Trustees and make them available for pick up in our garden shed.
4. When will the water be turned on?
"As soon after April 1st as the city can get around to it." -WH
